Jana Brike, Truesight, oil on canvas, 18 1/4 x 15", 46.4 x 38 cm.

A visual poem about hiding from the world and self-discovery in solitude, retreat into the inner heart-space where miracles happen, where you process and transcend your experiences and turn them into your own creative flow.

Truesight and Heartsong, are about LOVE. They were created together, almost like a diptych

There is this famous Antoine de Saint-Exupéry quote: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

We have this common saying in our culture that “love is blind”, but it is completely false. We don’t know ourselves; we don’t have the intelligence to distinguish infatuation, illusions, our own blind projections, and misguided expectations from love.

Love is the most objective inner gaze, understanding the true nature (of someone, something, or the self) and complete acceptance of it “as is”, unconditionally. (not to never improve, but acceptance in this moment). It is true seeing of the essential heart song of another - tuning in, listening to it deeply, letting it flow, appreciating its beauty without imposing our self-importance or judgement, holding space. Realize what it means to love Life in this sense. Or love this World. Or love your Self. Therefore, love is the most difficult inner practice. That’s what these two paintings are about.
