Travis Louie, The Ghost of Miss Emily Tappenger, acrylic on board, 24 x 18"

"The Ghost of Miss Emily Tappenger" is said to wander the woods surrounding the 24 room, Wyndeclyffe Mansion in Upstate New York. She went missing during a lavish garden party held there in the 1882. The guests were playing a scavenger party game on the grounds when she wandered off in the trees. For many years after, there have been sightings of her soft glowing figure walking through the thickets and pines, asking for directions. Most of those sightings involved people who were lost in the woods, who find their way out of the forest after seeing her. Some reports even describe her spectral apparition as a "kind spirit dispensing advice on romance and estate planning".
